Jerry Eugene Westlund, 81, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Preston died peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014.

 He was born Feb. 13, 1933 to Silas and Gladys Westlund in Preston.

After graduating from Preston High School in 1951, he made his life in southeastern Minnesota for 30 years before living in Garrison, Mont., Zeeland, N.D. and retiring in Mesa, Ariz.

He was a talented carpenter, businessman and musician.

He believed in a good education and science. Because of his passion for that he had donated his body to science with the hope of helping others.

He is survived by his loving and loyal wife, Jean Westlund of Mesa, Ariz.; his sister, Linda (Pete) Stephenson of Mesquite, Nev.; four children, Merrick (Brenda) Westlund of Tulsa, Okla., Bill Westlund of Owatonna, Jenelle (Eric) Gustafson of Owatonna and Gwen (Ted) Vogt of Owatonna; three stepchildren, David Anderson of Chicago, Ill., and Debbie and Jackie Anderson, both of Denver; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Todd Michael Gustafson.

A private memorial will be held in the spring.
