Junice Rein Stork Severson, 98, died peacefully at the Gundersen Harmony Care Center on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014.

Junice Myrle Rein was born June 1, 1916, to John and Geneva (Lindelien) Rein on the family farm in Highland Township, rural Lanesboro.

She attended Elstad country school and graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1934. She then graduated from Preston Normal Teacher Training School the following year and then taught at Elstad country school.

On Nov. 28, 1936 she married William Beverly Stork of Harmony. They made their home on the Stork family farm one mile north of Harmony. There were born eight Stork children; Colleen, Patricia, Janet, Kathryn, William, Julie, Edwin and Micheal.

While on the farm she raised her children, helped with the farm chores, sewed the kids’ clothes, grew a huge garden, canned fruits and vegetables and entertained family and friends tirelessly. In 1957, due to ill health of her husband, they moved into Harmony where she worked for Ruth Benson’s “Five and Dime.” She was one of the first employees of HECO, sewing ice fishing shelters and pop-up campers until her retirement.

Her husband died Oct. 14, 1961.

On Sept. 16, 1971, she married Orville Severson of Harmony. With that union, she acquired two stepsons, Tom and Rob Severson and their families, whom she grew to love deeply. Her second husband died April 26, 1983.

She got great pleasure from tending to her flower gardens, reading books, watching sports of all kinds, being especially supportive of the Vikings and playing cards, especially whist. Her greatest joy was family gatherings, whether immediate or extended families.

She is survived by her eight children, Colleen Arch of Davie, Fla., Patricia Stork of Golden Valley, Janet (Jay) Fedder of Wickenberg, Ariz., Kathryn (Roger) Hollman of Lake City, William B. (Bill) Stork, Jr. of Urbandale, Iowa, Julie (Jim) Mosier of Littleton, Colo., Edwin Stork of Harmony and Micheal (Mick) Stork of Caledonia; two stepsons, Tom (Mary Ann) Severson of Winona and Robert (Judy) Severson of Deephaven; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren and four great-stepgrandchildren; a sister, Elaine Moe Stavast of Ft. Collins, Colo., and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Rein of Preston.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Beverly Stork and Orville Severson; her brother, Gordon Rein; three sisters, Ethel Nosby, Norma Benson and Lois Arns and grandson, Samuel Horter Arch.

Visitation for her will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony. A private funeral service for the family will held Friday, Nov. 14.

Burial will be at the Scotland Cemetery near Richland Prairie Presbyterian Church rural Harmony. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Scotland Cemetery Association or Gundersen Harmony Care Center.
