Wauneta Back, 93, of Ostrander, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at the Spring Valley Care Center in Spring Valley.

Wauneta Elizabeth Taylor was born April 9, 1921, in Cincinnati, Iowa, to Mabry and Lou (Hyatt) Taylor, Sr.

She attended school through the eighth grade.

On April 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Claude Back at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

She was known for making strawberry jam and giving it out as Christmas gifts every year. She also enjoyed making lefse, dancing, putting puzzles together and traveling to Florida. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was very important to her. She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, William “Bill” (Phyllis) Back of Lebanon, Ohio, Ted (Carol) Back of Douglas, Wyo., Rex (Sue) Back of Spring Valley, Bonnie (Emore) Ronken of Rochester, Peggy (Terry) Hammon of Rochester, Randy (Lori) Back of Fountain and Lori (Jeff) Merrill of Rochester; daughter-in-law, Jean (Glenn) McNamara of Spring Valley,; 25 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, and sons, Ronald and Danny.

Funeral services for her were held Monday, Nov. 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander with the Rev. Herman Bakker officiating. Burial took place in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Hindt Funeral Home of Spring Valley is in charge of arrangements.
