Lorren E. Tingesdal, Jr., 64, of Mabel, died on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, surrounded by his family at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, from complications due to a three and a half year battle with mesothelioma.

He was born in Spring Grove on Nov. 7, 1953, to Lorren and Maxine(Olson) Tingesdal. 

He was confirmed at the Mabel First Lutheran Church.

He was a 1971 graduate of Mabel-Canton High School.

On July 13, 1974, he was united in marriage to Deborah Sagdalen.

He had been an employee of the Mabel Co-Op Telephone Company since 1974, working his way to his position as general manager. He was a member of the Mabel Fire Department. In his early days he enjoyed softball, horseshoe, bowling and playing cards, later his passion was fishing. His greatest joy was his children and the times he spent spoiling his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; son, Chris (Lacie) Tingesdal of Stewartville; daughter, Jill (Chad) Phillips of Lanesboro; his grandchildren, Jordon, Corbin, Juliet Tingesdal and Harper Phillips; two sisters Linda Stennes and Marcia (Harold) Haagenson, both of Rochester and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roderick and niece, Taylor Macken.

Memorial services for him will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 2, at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel with the Rev. Sharon Goetzinger officiating. Interment will be in the Mabel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, at the Mabel First Lutheran Church.

The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
