Come enjoy a night out with hunters and non-hunters as the local chapter of Whitetails Unlimited (WTU) benefits local shooting sports.

The third-annual event will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Fest Building in Spring Grove. Social hour, games and raffles begin at 5:30 p.m., and a two-meat buffet is available at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $45 for a single person, $25 for spouse (two tickets) and $25 for juniors (ages 15 and under). Tickets must be purchased in advance by Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The event is more than just attending for food and prizes. The chapter has given more than $11,000 back to local shooting sports such as the Spring Grove Trap Team and 4-H Shooting Sports, Houston County Chapter Field Director Chris Petersen said.

“It’s a great night out,” he said. “There’s a great meal, great chance to win outdoors stuff. And the best thing, the money stays local.”

Petersen started a chapter for Houston County about two years ago. Whitetails Unlimited is a non-profit organization that raises funds to support educational programs, wildlife habitat enhancement and acquisition and the preservation of shooting sports and hunting traditions for future generations.

Its national headquarters is located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Nationally, more than $78 million has been expended through the organization’s Grassroots Program for grants and program services that support their goals.

The organization’s local chapters have all given back to their local shooting sports and host events, such as Hunters Night Out.

Houston County’s event will also feature a live and silent auction. Those who purchase tickets to the event receive a door prize upon arrival and are entered into a drawing for a Ruger American “One Nation” rifle.

Another special prize drawing is for those who bring in shed antlers. One entry per point on the antler will be put into a drawing.

If you’re a table captain at the event, your name is also entered into a special drawing for a Henry Golden Boy gun. That honor also comes with seats reserved in your name and recognition as a special WTU guest.

Attendees can also purchase the Sportsmen’s Raffle Package and receive 132 Sportsmen’s Raffle tickets and a WTU cap or knife.

For business owners looking to sponsor the event, consider donating money or merchandise and receive the tumbler set and decal, two single banquet tickets and entry into a sponsor-only drawing for a gun or framed wildlife print.

“You can connect with other hunters, non-hunters and support the local community,” Petersen added.
