The Upper Iowa Speedway points series converged on Cresco at the Howard County Fairgrounds on Sunday, July 19.

In the Mod-Lites class, Curt Luhmann of Rushford collected his second checkered flag in as many UIS starts. This was his third of the season. John Griffin of Caledonia took second, while Jake Steere of Tripoli, Iowa managed third. Mabel drivers Adam Rogich and Troy Soiney took sixth and 13th, respectively.

Arthur Schott of Clermont, Iowa, won the four-cylinder Hornets feature, edging Mitch Balik of Fort Atkinson, Iowa. Third went to Ryan Ayers of Decorah. Mabel driver Breanna Lee took ninth.

In the Hobby Stocks division, Andy Stinson of Cresco won the checkered flag. Steve Larson of Decorah took second place, with Steve Holthaus of Cresco third. Harmony driver Tim Olson finished  ninth.

Ben Moudry of Cottage Grove, Minn., won the B-Mods feature, working his way up from third position. Cresco native Jason Schlangen took second in the points race, while Chris Weigert of New Hampton finished third. Spring Grove's Casey Knutson took fifth.

The checkered flag in the Stock Cars feature went to Tory Reicks of Waucoma, Iowa. The Fayette County driver began the points race in seventh, but would not be denied. Mitch Hovden took second, followed by Tom Schmitt of Independence, Iowa. Shawn Peter of Mabel snagged seventh, while Pete Solum of Spring Grove took 12th.

With nine races in the books, the UIS points leader are as follows - Mod Lites: John Griffin (766), Brian Radloff (581) and Adam Rogich (561). Hornets: Ryan Ayers (650), Arthur Schott (648) and Breanna Lee (560). Hobby Stocks: Chris Hovden (737), Steve Larson (721) and Steve Holthaus (719).  B-Mods: Dan Hovden (773), Chris Weigert (698) and Kyle Anderson (675). Stocks:  Mitch Hovden (709), Kevin Donlan (691) and Lynn Panos (691).

The same five classes are set to compete at Cresco Speedway on Sunday, July 26. On Aug. 1, the series returns to Decorah.
