1.) Please tell us about yourself and why you are running for office.

I have been married for 16 years to my wife Lynn. We have four children, Isaak, Gabe, Adin and Lydia. I have my own construction business with my brother, Nels, and also serve as substitute mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

I am running for office because of the fact that I have four school age children, I feel it is a responsibility of mine to be involved in decisions my public school is making.

2.) What are top three priorities that you feel need to be addressed?

1. Offering the classes that all students need prior to continuing their education.

2. Balancing the budget even with a declining enrollment, less state funding and increasing fuels costs.

3. Enrollment

3.) How do you think the school can bring more technology to classroom learning?

Technology is an exciting field that is changing all the time. We need to stay educated on these new ideas and use those that would benefit our school. I believe we are advancing in technology with the participation of our online students and the use of SMART Boards in several classrooms.

4.) How do you think the school can better communicate with the community and parents in a timely fashion?

Once again, I feel we are doing a good job at this. Parents have the ability to go online and check their child's grades. They are able to see daily assignments, scores and test scores.

I also believe all of our staff are willing to receive an e-mail or phone call with any concerns a parent or community member may have. As a board member, I welcome anyone who has concerns to attend our monthly meeting or contact one of us.

5.) What short-term (5 years or less) and long-term (more than 5 years) goals would you like to set for the school?

"It shall be the mission of Spring Grove Public Schools to help individuals acquire knowledge, skills and a positive attitude towards self and others that will enable them to solve problems, think creatively, continue learning and develop maximum potential for leading productive, fulfilling lives in a complex and changing society."

I believe that by following our schools' mission statement in any situation that arises we should be achieving our goals as a school.

6.) What have you accomplished in your time on the school board?

I believe a board is a team effort. I believe it takes all six board members to make accomplishments. I feel that our board, with the help of all our staff, are offering a quality education for our children.
