The Chatfield boys basketball team lost to Caledonia 93-47 Tuesday, dropping the Gophers’ record to 3-11.  The team is 1-8 in Three Rivers Conference play, 1-4 against teams from the East Division.

Reid Johnson led the team with 15 points.  Johnson hit six of 11 shots from the field and was three for three at the free throw line.  Bennett Gathje was also in double-figure scoring with 13 points.  Gathje hit five of seven from the field, including three of four from the three-point line.  Austin Hines was three for five in shooting with seven points and Jacob Gillespie was two for three in his shooting from the field, finishing the game with five points.  Each of them had a three-pointer. 

Coming up with two points each were Landon Bance, Kobe Schott and Josef Fahrenholtz.  Seth Allen had a free throw for one point.  Schott was two for two at the charity line.  As a team Chatfield was 18 for 47 (38.3 percent) from the field, five for 14 (35.7 percent) from beyond the arc, and six for nine (66.7 percent) at the free throw line.

Chatfield had 20 rebounds in the game, led by Johnson (4), Gathje (3), Gillespie (3) and Fahrenholtz (3).  Ben Brogan had six of the team’s 13 assists and the team had five steals.  No one had more than one steal.  The team had 31 turnovers in the game.

Caledonia is the No. 4 ranked team in the state in Class AA.

Tuesday night the Chatfield team was scheduled to travel to La Crescent (7-2, 8-5) and Friday the Gophers will host Southland (2-8, 3-9). 

AA ranked teams clash

Minneapolis North (No. 2) traveled to Caledonia (No. 4) Saturday afternoon and defeated the Warriors 79-77 in a highly contested game.  Saturday night St. Charles (No. 3) traveled to Lake City (No. 12) and lost to the Tigers, 81-57.  Plainview-Elgin-Millville (No. 20) beat Lourdes, 88-65, and Byron (No. 11) downed Dover-Eyota, 68-40.
