In a dual wrestling meet win over Dover-Eyota last week, Chatfield improved to 7-1 on the season, 4-0 against Three Rivers Conference teams, but not necessarily all division wins.

Thursday night the team will host Plainview-Elgin-Millville in what could be the decider of the conference championship, according to coach Travis Bartels.

Solid win Friday night against D-E.  We dealt with adversity all week with sickness and weight-cutting and I felt that we handled it well,” said Bartels. “This week will be especially exciting with PEM home on Thursday and Stewartville Invite Saturday.  I believe the winner of Thursday night's dual will win the Three Rivers Conference.”

Here are the results from the Dover-Eyota meet.

Mandt champion at Rumble

Rochester may have hosted the “Clash” recently, but Chatfield had a champion at the 2017 Rumble on the Red tournament in Fargo Dec. 28 to 30.  Jake Mandt took first place at 145 lbs.

“We had some good wins with both varsity and JV,” said Bartels. “Special congrats to Jake Mandt and Luke Ihrke (sixth at 152 lbs., JV).  Very tough tournament with about 20 ranked kids in each bracket, which creates a ‘state tournament’ experience.”

Rumble on the Red is one of the largest high school wrestling tournaments in the country. The tourney had wrestlers from 54 teams in Minnesota, 24 from North Dakota, three from South Dakota and one each from Nebraska, Wisconsin and Wyoming. More than 1,400 varsity and junior varsity wrestlers competed at the tournament.

Following are the Chatfield results from the tourney.
