The Chatfield Gopher volleyball team traveled to Red Wing last Thursday for a first round 1AA East match-up with the Wingers.  Unfortunately the gals came up short, losing in three sets, 11-25, 14-25 and 12-25.  With the loss the team ended the 2017 season with a 6-24 record.

Unofficial serving stats: Abi Hinckley five for six, Mikaela Kohlmeyer two for three, Mollie Henry three for four, Grace Friederichs four for six, Kielan LaPlante seven for seven, Belle Berg five for six, and Macy Pederson seven for seven.  Berg had a pair of ace serves and one ace each for Pederson, Friederichs and LaPlante.

Unofficial kills: LaPlante eight, Berg three, Henry two and Paige Erickson five.  Erickson also had an ace block.

Friederichs had the majority of the team’s set assists.

Finishing up their high school volleyball careers were Julia Friederichs, Macy Pederson, Grace Friederichs, Kennedy O’Connor, Megan Hopp and Mikaela Kohlmeyer.

A final stat report for the team will be in next week’s paper. 

Red Wing and Plainview-Elgin-Millville won semi-final matches this past Saturday and will play for the 1AA East championship on Thursday night.  Stewartville and Kasson-Mantorville will play for the 1AA West championship, also on Thursday night.

The 1A East championship match has Caledonia taking on Mabel-Canton and the 1A West finalists are Hayfield and Bethlehem Academy.
