Six area fire departments battled a house fire in the village of Fillmore Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were on the scene until around 10 p.m. as the house was severely damaged. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a 911 call at 2:35 p.m. with a report of a residential house fire at 19232 County 8, Wykoff.  The homeowner who called 911 reported that there was smoke in her house, but she was not sure of the cause or location of the fire, according to Fillmore County Chief Deputy Kevin Beck.

The Wykoff Fire Department was the primary department that was paged to the fire.  After arriving on scene, the Wykoff fire chief requested mutual aid from Stewartville, Spring Valley, Chatfield, Fountain and Preston.

The Spring Valley Ambulance Service was also called to stand by for assistance and the state fire marshal was requested to respond to the fire scene.
