Bratland named All-Area Baseball

Spring Grove junior Carter Bratland is one of only three Class A selections on the Post Bulletin 2019 All-Area Baseball Team. Lion teammates, senior Alex Folz and junior Chandler Bergrud, received Honorable Mention.
Bratland and Folz have now both been feted in each of the three years the Post Bulletin has selected the honor team. Both had received Honorable Mention All-Area the previous two years -
Bratland, named Second Team All-Area in 2019, had previously been honored for a third year on both the All-Section 1A and All-Southeast Conference Teams.
The accomplished catcher/pitcher batted .325 with a team-best 20 RBIs and had a 1.355 ERA after almost 52 innings on the mound.
Folz - a pitcher, catcher, outfielder and infielder - was also a Class A All-State selection, All-Section 1A for a fourth year and All-SEC for the third season.
Bergrud, an infielder/ catcher/pitcher was also All-Section 1A and All-SEC while leading the Lions in batting average (.378) and slugging percentage (.676).
Bratland is one of 20 All-Area honorees. There were five Class AAAA selections and 12 Class AA players, including Player of the Year Hayden Brown of Rochester Lourdes and a pair of Caledonia neighbors - Casey Storlie and Tate Meiners.
The three Class A honorees were Bratland, senior Riley Gora of Schaeffer Academy and freshman Easton Fritcher of Hayfield.
Other neighbors receiving Honorable Mention were Drew Wyffels of Mabel-Canton (third year) plus Caledonia seniors Eric Augedahl and Payton Schott.
