The Kingsland Builders Club has chosen Olivea Heusinkveld as its February Builders Club Member of the Month.  She is the daughter of Patrick and Melissa Heusinkveld and Nikki and Brian Wondrow.

Heusinkveld is in seventh grade at Kingsland High School, and she is active in Builders Club, FFA, basketball and volleyball.  “I like basketball the best,” she commented, adding, “Science is my favorite subject, and English or math is my least favorite subject.”

Outside of school, she keeps busy with park and rec sports and Just for Kix dance and spends her spare time painting as she noted she really likes painting, drawing and playing with her younger siblings.

She enjoys watching Disney movies and listens to pop music.  “Moana” is one of her favorite movies, although she said she likes many Disney movies.  Her favorite book is “The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl” because she and her father like Marvel movies and books.

“I could live on watermelon for the rest of my life, and I think fish is gross,” she said. “My biggest pet peeve is when people stop right in front of me when I’m walking.”

If she could go to any country, she would choose Germany because she has family living there. In fact, she gets to go there this spring with her grandmother, Mary.  If she could go to any state, she would go to Florida because she wants to go to Disney World.

The 12-year-old most admires her “Grandma Rita, Grandpa Connie and my dad because they taught me right from wrong.”

If she could do one thing to change the world, she would end animal cruelty because “I love animals and I hate that people hurt them,” she said.

She aspires to go back to school after she’s graduated from high school.  Although she wanted to be a hair stylist when she was younger, she now wants to be a science teacher.

The Builders Club honored Heusinkveld during a recent club meeting.
