Dennis Holtegaard, 71, once of Lanesboro

Dennis Irven Holtegaard, 71, of Rice Lake, Wis., died Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Dec. 31, 1947, in Lanesboro to Irven and Arlene (Skalet) Holtegaard. He graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1965, received his bachelor’s degree in education from Winona State and then received his master’s degree in business administration from Mankato State. He was married to Jill Sackett on Aug. 9, 1969, in Dodge Center. He taught mechanical drafting and architecture design in Cresco, was a manager and real estate agent in Rochester, was in sales for Josten’s for ten years and then became the dean of continuing education at WITC in Rice Lake from 1991-2009. He enjoyed downhill skiing in the winter and spending time at the lake, golfing and grilling in the summer. He loved spending time with family and friends; having fun with his four grandkids was his greatest delight. He is survived by his wife, Jill Holtegaard of Rice Lake; two daughters and sons-in-law, Krista and Aaron Staloch of Wayzata and Kari and Dave Koob of St. Louis Park; four grandchildren, Sophia, Benjamin, Henry and Maggie; his mother, Arlene Holtegaard of Lanesboro; two brothers, Philip Holtegaard of Lanesboro and Lowell (Sheri) Holtegaard of Peterson; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Irven Holtegaard, and a brother, Larry Holtegaard. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, with the Rev. Grant Aaseng officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake.
