Wade Grinde, head boys basketball coach at Spring Grove, has been named 2019 State Class A Coach of the Year by the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association. Previously, he had been his peers' choice four times as Section 1A Coach of the Year.

Grinde has just completed his 24th season at the helm in Lion land with a third place finish at the state tournament and a 20th conference championship, including the last eight SEC East crowns. His Lion lads have just logged a ninth consecutive 20-win season with a 25-5 record this winter.

The exciting overtime triumph in the state tournament third place game was Grinde's 460th career win, all at Spring Grove. He was Spring Grove's assistant coach during his first year of teaching before assuming the top post in 1995-'96.
