‘What’s Going On? – Songs From the Vietnam War Era’ to be performed by Fabulous Armadillos in Chatfield

The revolutionary music of the 1960s and early ‘70s served as a touchstone to home for the American troops of the Vietnam War. Everything from rock, pop, blues, soul, psychedelic and country became an escape from the high tension, daily life of the soldier. It’s timeless music that remains highly popular to this day.

The Fabulous Armadillos will be performing “What’s Going On? – Songs From the Vietnam War Era” on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Chatfield Center for the Arts.

The music includes songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and many others. The show honors the soldiers, recognizes the turbulent times at home, and explores how it all influenced the great music of the era.

“What’s Going On?” is a multi-media concert experience that combines a ten-piece band, video projection and stories and narration by Vietnam and Iraq War veterans.

Chatfield Center for the Arts opens its doors at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.  Two food trucks will be on-site and socializing prior to the show is encouraged.  Concert-goers can enjoy beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks sold by CCA.  All seating is reserved and tickets are available online at www.chatfieldarts.org, by calling 507-884-7676, or at the door.
