Adeline “Addie” Marie Snyder, 82, of Grand Meadow, died on Saturday May 12, 2018, at Spring Valley Living Center in Spring Valley.

She was born on June 21, 1935, in Algona, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Anna (Kofron) Malecek.

She lived in rural Britt, Iowa, until the family moved to a farm near Elkton, where she graduated from Elkton High School in 1952.

Following graduation, she was employed as a teller at the Stewartville National Bank from 1952 to 1955.

On Aug. 20, 1955, she was united in marriage to Eugene Snyder of Grand Meadow. The couple lived in their rural home for 60 years until moving to Spring Valley Senior Living. 

She enjoyed reading, sewing, music, art, painting, photography and interior design. Her career included full-time homemaking and retail sales at Dayton’s and Stevenson’s at Apache Mall. She also took classes in creative writing at Rochester Community and Technical College and St. Teresa’s.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Russ) Bultman of Eufaula, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Candace (Steve) Curran of Stewartville; seven grandchildren, Craig Meyer, Thomas Lantz, Anna Thorie, Lindsey Snyder, Pamela Sherman, Katie Thorie and Emmy (Gabe) Bly and one great-granddaughter, Haley Mattsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; a son, J.T. Snyder; a daughter, Laurie Snyder and two brothers, Edward and Leonard.

Memorial mass for her will be held on Thursday, May 17, at St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow with the Rev. Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Valley Cemetery.
