Adonna Cook, 87, formerly of Cherry Grove

Adonna Jean Cook, 87, of Hillister, Calif., died on Thursday, May 30, 2019, in hospice care, surrounded by her five children.

She was born in Cherry Grove on April 24, 1932, to parents Darrell and Doris Mensink.

She was married to Eugene E. Cook on Feb. 13, 1954.

She enjoyed traveling, volunteering and church activities throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed traveling internationally and was successful in visiting all 50 states. She was also dedicated to her community as a volunteer auxiliary at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. For years, she enjoyed her church community as a YLI member and Alter Society volunteer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She is survived by five children, Michael (Lorraine) Cook, Karen (Khalil) Ahmari, Mary (Paul) Zuchowski, Debra Cook and John (Carol) Cook; grandchildren, Stephen (Erin), Jacob (Jessica), Cameron (Allison), Jonathan, Amir (Megan), Jordan, Sarah, Justin, Irene, Abigail and Madilyn; two great-grandchildren, Colin and Katie and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and lifelong friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene in August 2002; brother, Curtis and sister, Yvonne.

A funeral mass for her was held on Monday, June 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos, Calif. Burial followed at Saint Benedict Church Columbarium in Hollister, Calif.

In her memory, donations can be made to local hospice providers of one’s choosing.
