Brandon Anderson, the conference's leading shooter, had a perfect 50-straight last week as the Spring Grove trap shooters appear to have a death-grip on the Conference 1A - 10 crown. With a fourth consecutive team score surpassing 1,700 (this week a season-low 1,727), the Lions now hold a 1,733-point margin in the season standings over second-place Rochester Lourdes.

No other team has yet come close to 1,700, making it unlikely Lourdes could catch Spring Grove even if the Lions turned in a zero in this, the final fifth week of conference competition.

Three other Lions had a 25-straight round last week, including Tanner Thesing who finished at 49 and Camron Kraus who closed at 47.

Close behind were Garrison Van Minsel, Hailey Conway and Takoda Boyd - each at 46.

Tristan Hammel had a 45, only one bird ahead of CJ Sylling, Marie Petersen, Kyle Hagen, Tristan Brainard and Ashlyn Hammel.

Coming in at 43 were Xander Lewis, Taylor Reinhardt and Jakob Myrah. Closing out the team score with a 41 was Jacine Johanningmeier.

League leaders

It is not surprising that the Lions also dominate the conference individual rankings with eight of the top 11 boys and seven of the league’s top 12 girls.

All eight Lion girls and all 12 boys are listed on their respective conference top 25 lists.

Ashlyn Hammel (left) has the best season average among all conference girls (23.63) and ranks second overall (girls and boys). Petersen ranks second among conference girls with Conway third and Johanningmeier fourth. Maria Myrah is tied for eighth with Reinhardt 10th, Marah Mathison 12th and Tiffany Michels 16th.

Anderson (23.75) leads all conference boys with Boyd tied for second and Sylling fourth, Kraus tied for sixth, Van Minsel eighth, Lewis ninth and Brainard sharing 10th with Hagen.

Also among the top 25 are Thesing (13), Tristan Hammel (16), Jakob Myrah (17) and Carson Gerard (18).
