Bethany Lutheran College Choirs to perform in Spring Valley May 12

The choirs of Bethany Lutheran College will present a concert of sacred and secular music at First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley on Saturday, May 12, at 4 p.m.

The Concert Choir and the Men’s Choir are directed by Dennis Marzolf, a Spring Valley native.  The Mary Martha Singers and the Handbell Choir are directed by Ann Fredrickson.   Benjamin Wessel of Spring Valley sings with the choirs.

The 50 student musicians will present a diverse program including music from many centuries, as well as an original choral composition based on the hymn, “Be Still, My Soul.”  Members of the audience will be invited to join the choir in singing Alfred Fremder’s arrangement of “On My Heart, Imprint Thine Image.”

Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato is a Christian liberal arts college owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod.  The synod was founded 100 years ago, and the concert will highlight the Norwegian roots of that organization.

There is no admission charge for the concert.  An offering will be received to defray the costs of the tour.
