Burro girls extend string of SEC golf championships

The Lanesboro golf girls claimed a 13th consecutive regular season conference championship as the LHS teams took part in two meets last week with the Burro girls defeating three conference teams, The boys had SEC victories against Houston and Glenville-Emmons and a loss versus Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander.

The girls finished undefeated in conference play at 6-0. The boys closed at 4-2 in SEC duals. The conference tournament follows this week.

at G-E, GMLO

The golf started on Tuesday, May 15 when they traveled to Adams to take on Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander and Glenville-Emmons. The Lanesboro girls won the conference double dual by a wide margin with a team score of 229.

Janell Boyum of the Burros was the medalist with a 52. On the boys side, Grant Vikre of GMLO was the medalist with a 41 while Hayden Lawstuen led the Burros at 46.

Dual sweep with Houston

Thursday afternoon, the Burros played host to Houston in Lanesboro. The girls outscored the Hurricanes by 72 strokes while the boys were 51 strokes better than the opposition.

Payton Benson was the medalist for the girls with a 46 while Hunter Gehrke was the medalist for the boys with a 45.

On Monday, May 21, the Burros kicked off the week with a trip to the Old Barn Resort to take on Kingsland, and today (Thursday, May 24) LHS travels to Adams for the Southeast Conference Tournament.
