Burro trap team shoots through falling snow

It was a greater challenge than usual as the Lanesboro trap team fired their first conference shots into a sky filled with falling snow as well as clay targets. The Burros were somewhat shorthanded due to both the weather and schedule conflicts.

Coach Dustin Flattum said the weather "dropped the scores a bit," but he stressed he was "really happy with the way the shooters managed the adverse conditions. We hope better weeks are ahead."

After this first week of the five-week conference season, the Burros begin in sixth place among the seven teams in Class 2A-Conference 1.

Zachary Torgerson led LHS while hitting 45 out of 50 targets. Lauren Zoellner brought down 42 birds, Logan Torgerson 41 and Jordan Peterson 40.

Next came Harlee Wead at 39, Jacob Peterson at 38 and three teammates at 35 — Caden Johnson, Holdyn Willford and Trevor Ruen.

There are nine classes, 1A through 9A, based on the number of shooters rather than school enrollment.

Lanesboro is among 49 schools in the next-to-smallest registration Class 2A, which is divided into seven conferences.
