Charles ‘Chuck’ Dennstedt, 88, of Harmony

Charles “Chuck” Dennstedt, 88, of Harmony, died peacefully at his home on July 11, 2019.

Chuck farmed northeast of Harmony all his life, both on his family’s century farm and on his own neighboring farm. He served in the United States Navy for four years, as an aviation machinist. In the community, he served as a Fillmore County commissioner for approximately 25 years; on the loan committee and board of directors for the First Southeast Bank in Canton for 23 years; and on church committees and the church council at Greenfield Lutheran, where he has been a member since 1964. He was a member of the American Legion. In addition to farming, he worked for more than a decade as a realtor for Erickson-Prochaska.

He loved his family. He was willing to support any family member or event, no matter what that support entailed. He also loved “mystery trips” and being on the planning and receiving end of surprises, golf with his lifelong friends, and watching sports of all kinds.

He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Marietta (Moe); sons, John (Kim) and Tom (Denise Logeland) and daughter, Martha Dennstedt (David Hunzelman); granddaughters, McKenna, Rachel and Allie Dennstedt, and Abby Hunzelman; and many nieces and nephews who spent summers on the farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ida (Bruflodt) Dennstedt; a brother, Fredrick (Marjorie), and sisters, Frances (John Wilschke), Lois (Rod Starz) and Eleanore (Peter Torvik).

His funeral service will be held Saturday, July 20, at Greenfield Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with visitation starting at 1. Cake and ice cream will be served following the service.
