The Chatfield dance team wrapped up a successful season at the Section 1A meet in Lake City on Saturday.

The team had a solid performance showcasing its abilities and the hard work the dancers put in all season long, said coach Brenda Strande. The team placed seventh out of 15 teams this past weekend.

“We again stayed in line with the teams we’ve been with all season long. There are so many tough teams in our section,” Strande said. “Everyone brought their best, and the judges were tough on scoring. This season has been one to remember. They have worked hard to improve their skills, tried many new things, and have come so far as the season has progressed. This was not unnoticed by fans and people in the community. We have had many people comment on how great things looked this year. Not just our parents, our biggest fans, but unexpected compliments as well.”

Even the DJ that was at all the majority of Chatfield’s meets this year stopped to tell the Chatfield dancers how impressed he was and “how incredible what we were putting out there this year was compared to years past. He said it has been great to watch our improvements over the years,” Strande said. He came up to congratulate the team when he was the DJ in Winona where Chatfield took fourth and again when he was in attendance as a fan in Lewiston where Chatfield took third.

“It’s amazing to see so many people rooting for us and cheering us on. Our fan section seems to get bigger every year, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all of the support,” Strande said. “The girls will continue to work this offseason and we hope to continue building on what we were able to accomplish this year, next season. If anyone would like to join our team next season, watch for info on tryouts this spring.”
