Cheryl J. Holtegaard, 70, of Dover, died on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus in Rochester.

She was born on June 2, 1948, in Owatonna to Earl and LaDonna (Johnson) Scherger.

She attended Elgin School.

Her favorite things to do were spending time with family, four-wheeling, playing pool, going on vacations with siblings, watching plays, going out to dinner and she loved Alan Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Holtegaard; daughters, Tammie (Steve) Long of Preston and Nicole Long of Chatfield; six grandkids, Mckahl (Heather) Long, Evan (Kayla) Long, Kourtnie, Carson, Shelbie and Kyra Long; eight great-grandkids, Hailey, Autumn, Kaiden, Landon, Claire, Odin, Lincon and Lauryn; sisters, Becky (Arvin) Holtegaard of Dover, Debbie (Rod) Hart of Viola and Sandy (Brian) Ihrke of Eyota; brother, Dale (Stacie) Scherger of Chatfield; sister-in-law, LaLoni (Allan) Thompson and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brother, John; niece, Lori and great-grandson, Seth.

A celebration of her life was held on Friday, Oct. 26, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with funeral celebrant Dianne Rislow officiating.
