Community discussion on race to continue

Let’s Talk About Race: A Community Discussion will reconvene on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Spring Valley Public Library.

The following meetings will be Thursdays, Jan. 3 and Jan. 24, at the same time, 6 p.m., and will continue to be on the first and fourth Thursdays of each month. All are welcome to this free event.

Coming back together after a brief hiatus during the election season, organizers are planning to use both a text, “Uprooting Racism,” by Paul Kivel, and a variety of films (based on group suggestions, the first film, on Jan. 24, will be “Spinning into Butter”) to further this very full conversation.  While familiarity with the text may be helpful, it is not essential for those interested in joining the conversation about issues having to do with race in our community, our country and our world.
