Amber Conniff sprinted to the conference championship in the 200-meter dash at the 2018 Three Rivers Conference Track & Field Championships on May 12 at the Ben Niggle Sports Complex in Rushford.

But with so few athletes, Caledonia/Spring Grove was not in contention for top team honors with the girls finishing ninth and the boys 10th out of 10 teams.

With 13 boys making the trip, the Warriors entered only nine of the 18 events. With 10 girls, C/SG competed in only 10 events.

The first eight places in each event earned team points. For the seventh straight year, Plainview-Elgin-Millville swept both team titles. The Plainview and P-E-M boys have a string of at least 18 conference titles.

Sophomore Jack Beardmore was the leading scorer (11.5 points), placing third among 28 boys in the 100-meter dash with a personal record time of 11.39 seconds and also running on the third place 4x200-meter relay and the fourth place 4x100-meter relay.

Relay regulars Cullen Patterson and Nick McCabe were on both teams. But in the absence of Sam Barthel, Kai Bjerke completed the 4x100 squad while Marten Morem stepped into the 4x200 lineup.

Patterson (7.5 points) earned sixth place points at 100 meters. Morem was fifth among 17 high jumpers while matching a personal best height of 5 feet, 10 inches.

Taylor Holty had a seventh place distance (120 feet, 4 inches) among 26 discus competitors.
