Loss at L-A, 10-5

Mabel-Canton led the game 4-2 until Lewiston-Altura ripped off back-to-back four-run innings. Kenidi McCabe hit a lead-off home run to put the Cougars ahead 3-2 in the fourth. An RBI triple by Lexi Thorson made it 4-2 in the fifth.

L-A, which had only one base hit through the first four innings, took control in their final two times at bat with four hits (three doubles), while taking advantage of three Cougar errors and four free passes.

M-C out-hit their hosts six to five, but the Cougars committed twice as many errors (six to three) and received only half as many walks from Cardinal pitchers. All six M-C hits came from different players — Thorson, Kenidi McCabe, Jordyn Newgard, Lauren Wyffels, Payton Danielson and Hannah Snell.

The Class AA Cardinals (7-8) snapped a four-game losing streak.
