David Martin, 79, once of Lanesboro

David Arlow Martin, 79, of St. Charles, died unexpectedly, Aug. 1, 2019.

He was born June 19, 1940, to Hellen Alice (Gray) and Loren Arlow Martin, in Lanesboro. He attended Chatfield High School for three years and continued his education at Wykoff through the 11th grade. After leaving high school, he began his working career as a farm laborer, eventually pursuing his passion on his own farm.

On Jan. 20, 1962, he married the love of his life, Geneva (Gehrking) in Stewartville.

He also worked many years for Bedtke Brothers Feed and Seed of Dover, and Swenson Trucking of Chatfield, up until his health prevented him from working.

He enjoyed reading, antiquing, going to garage sales, tractors, farming, family and, most of all, being with his wife.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Geneva; two sons, Brian (Kathy) Martin of Rochester and Brad Martin of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Nate (Katie) Martin of Woodinville, Wash., and Keira (Caulina) Pape of St. Charles; along with one great-granddaughter, Dessa.

Services were held on Monday, Aug. 5, at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with the Rev. Laurie Boche officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date.

Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota was in charge of arrangements.
