Diana Thompson, 82, of Ostrander

Diana Lee (Sande) Thompson, 82, of Ostrander, died on Aug. 17, 2019, at Ostrander Care Center, a patient there for the last 12 days.

She was born in Texas to Harris and Patricia Sande on June 26, 1937. After a couple of years, they moved back to the Wykoff area. She spent her childhood years in Wykoff, and then spent her middle school years in Rock Island, Ill. She moved back to Wykoff and completed her high school years, graduating from Wykoff High School in 1956. She then went on and attended Winona State College for a year. Then, she moved to Rochester and started her many years of working in the banking business. She started with Norwest Bank, moving to Home Federal in Spring Valley and then to Ostrander State Bank where she remained until her retirement.

While working in Spring Valley, she met Vernon Thompson, and they were married Nov. 14, 1959. After they were married, they lived in Ostrander where she continued to work at the bank, as well as serving as city clerk for the city of Ostrander, and also did substitute work at the Ostrander Post Office.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran in Ostrander where she served in many volunteer capacities. She was also a 30-year charter member of the Ostrander Lions Club where she worked on numerous projects throughout the years.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon Thompson of Ostrander; one son, Mark (Dawn) Thompson of Spring Valley; two grandchildren, Joshua Thompson of Spring Valley and Jamie (Brandon Wiltgen) of Cresco; two sisters, Judy Thompson of Wykoff and Lynda (Dave Haagensen) Hyberger of Rochester; one half brother, Kevin Hedges of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one half brother. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander with the Rev. Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will be at Ostrander Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
