Ehler enjoys surprise fly-over of R-P school

Retiring R-P Superintendent received a birds-eye view of the school last week, when area resident and personal friend Larry Bartelson surprised Ehler with a plane ride (pictured left). “I had no clue what was happening when Larry took me to the airport,” Ehler said. Bartelson and Ehler jumped into a plane piloted by Mike Thern and toured the area before Thern took several loops around the R-P school. Elementary students and their teachers, who were clued into Bartelson’s plan by Principal Angela Shepard, were waiting to wave an enthusiastic greeting to Ehler (pictured above) as the plane circled the grounds. Ehler will be honored at an all-school assembly on Friday, May 24, at 2:15 p.m. in the R-P gym.
