Eloyse Rose (Fruechte) Asmus, 92, of Mabel

Eloyse Rose (Fruechte) Asmus died April 26, 2019, at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Eloyse was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Caledonia to Edwin and Ella (Bunge) Fruechte.

She was baptized and she confirmed her faith at St. Luke’s Church in Eitzen, Minn.

Growing up on the farm, Eloyse was very involved in all aspects of the farm. On June 10, 1950, Eloyse was united in marriage to Raymond Asmus.

They made their home in West Bend, Wis., for 62 years until Ray died in 2012.

She and Ray were parents of two sons, Terry and Randy. Eloyse was an excellent seamstress and did alterations for several stores in West Bend.

She then started another career in food service at the local high school.

Eloyse enjoyed flower gardening and she and Ray received the West Bend Mayor’s Home Beautification Award for two consecutive years.

She is survived by four brothers, Arnold (Liz), Vernon (Naomi), and Lawrence (Judy), all of Caledonia, and Neil (Sharon) of Waseca, Minn.; one sister, Muriel (Glen) Schroeder of Caledonia; sister in law, Shirley Weston of West Bend, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eloyse was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; and sons, Terry and Randy.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 6, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend, Wis.

Burial was in Washington County Memorial Park.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Caledonia Chapel, and the Myrhum Patten Miller and Kietzer Funeral and Cremation Service, West Bend, Wis., is assisting the family with arrangements.
