Erin Drees has been chosen as the May Kingsland Builders Club Student of the Month.  She is the daughter of Joe and Santi Drees.

The Kingsland eighth grader is active in basketball, Builders Club, drumline, band and choir, and she most enjoys basketball.  Her past extracurricular activities include Knights of the Round Table middle school student council.

“My favorite subject is science, and my least favorite subject is Project Lead the Way,” she said.

Outside of school, she keeps busy in her church, band and choir, as well as practicing her musical instruments — the piano and trumpet. She also practices basketball.

“I don’t really have a favorite movie or book, but I listen to country music,” she said about her preferences. “My biggest pet peeve is when people chew gum really loud.  If I could live on one food for the rest of my life, I would live on steak.  Shrimp is really gross.”

If she could travel to any country in the world, she’d go to Greece because she said it’s really pretty.  If she could go to any state, she’d go to Hawaii because it is surrounded by ocean.

The 14-year-old most admires her parents and siblings.  “I admire them because they are always there for me,” she said.

If she could do one thing to change the world, she said she would give money to the poor.

She would like to someday become an astronomer, although when she was younger, she thought she wanted to be a teacher.

The Builders Club honored Drees during the club’s May meeting earlier in the month.
