Esther McCaulley, 92, of Spring Valley and formerly of Wykoff, died on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Spring Valley Living Center.

Esther Marie Brock was born on July 20, 1925, in Webb, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Marguerite (Miller) Brock.

She graduated with the class of 1943 from Webb High School, where she played on the girls’ basketball team.

On June 12, 1950, she married Arthur McCaulley in Coggon, Iowa. To this union, three children were born, Jean, Judy and Mike. 

She worked as a registered nurse and alongside her husband on the farm. She was a loyal Lions Club member receiving several awards. Later in life she worked in the Green Thumb Project in the Kingsland Middle School in Wykoff where she worked in the library, made many copies of papers for the teachers and helped any student who needed it.

She was an avid Beanie Baby collector and enjoyed giving them out to her great-grandchildren and any other child who came to visit her. She could always be found in the stands cheering on her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and even began following her friends’ grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved music and dancing, especially waltz, polka and square dancing. She was a member of the White Water Twirlers and helped to teach square dancing at the local schools.

She is survived by her children, Jean (Steve) Olson of Spooner, Wis., Judy (Paul) Frank of Spring Valley and Mike (Gwen) McCaulley of Fountain; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Barb) Brock of Omaha, Neb., and James (Doris) Brock of Alexandria, Ark.; and her sister, Madeline (John) Rouse of Ayrshire, Iowa. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1996; grandson, Brian and brothers, Duane and Derald.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 12, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff.
