Falcons take second, fourth in conference golf tournament

The Fillmore Central girls had won five Three Rivers Conference tournament championships in a row, starting back in 2014. That streak came to an end this past week, as Caledonia won the Three Rivers Conference tournament championship.

The Warriors took first place with a score of 363. The Fillmore Central gals recorded a score of 370, for a very respectable second place finish. Following them were Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson (third, 395), La Crescent-Hokah (fourth, 410), Plainview-Elgin-Millville (fifth, 443) and St. Charles (sixth, 444). Chatfield, Dover-Eyota and Southland had individuals participating, but did not have enough players for a team score.

Madison Scheevel was the TRC champion, recording a score of 78 for the 18 holes at Willow Creek. Hailey Lange (91, sixth) and Taylor Bushman (93, seventh) also had top 10 finishes. Other FC golfers and their scores: Chloe Morem (108), Marissa Topness (115) and Courtney Hershberger (116).

Top 10 individuals: Scheevel (FC), 78; Anna Tollefson (LaC-H), 80; Jenna Wiebke (Cal), 85; Vanessa Hawkins (Cal), 89; Ally Jilik (Cal), 90; Lange (FC), 91; Taylor Bushman (FC), 93; Emma Cage (StC), 95; Lexi Reps (LARP), 95; and Jada Reider (LaC-H), 97.

For the boys, Jake Fishbaugher finished fourth individually with a score of 84 for his 18 holes. As a team, Fillmore Central was fourth (398). Other Falcon golfers and their scores: Riley Lange (103), Nate Storlie (105), Landon Nevalainen (106), Cory Brown (132) and Jay Bissen (137). Fishbaugher was the only top 10 finisher for the Falcons.

La Crescent-Hokah (338) was the team winner, followed by LARP (341), PEM (370), FC (398), Chatfield (416), Caledonia (417), Dover-Eyota (435), Southland (457) and St. Charles (478). W-K was incomplete.

The section tournament was set to begin this past Tuesday with Class A at Willow Creek and the AA schools at Cannon Falls. The tournaments will conclude on Thursday, May 30.

The Fillmore Central girls are the five-time defending section champions.
