FC golfers split golf match

The girls won and the guys lost in their dual-meet competition with La Crescent-Hokah last week.

“Madison Scheevel strikes again, one-under-par 35, leading us to the 203-213 win,” said coach Aaron Mensink.

The other players for Fillmore Central, and their scores: Taylor Bushman (48), Hailey Lange (53), Marissa Topness (67) and Chloe Morem (67).

Wabasha-Kellogg was also involved in the match, but didn’t have any varsity players.

The boys lost to La Crescent-Hokah 215-154. 

“We are very young,” said coach Brad Holten. “Three eighth graders, two 10th graders and one junior tonight.  They need time on the course.  La Crescent-Hokah has five seniors and one sophomore.”

Scores for Fillmore Central: Jake Fishbaugher (45), Landon Nevalainen (50), Cory Brown (59), Riley Lange (61), Blake Bahl (62) and Nate Storlie (65).

Medalist for the match was Grant Nutter, La Crescent-Hokah, with a round of 35.

Wabasha-Kellogg had three golfers so did not have a team score.

The teams were schedule for a match this past Tuesday (Lanesboro), although it was rainy earlier on in the day, and will travel to Rushford for a match with Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson on Friday.  Saturday the teams will go to Cresco and Monday they are at La Crescent-Hokah.
