Fillmore Central hopes to be contending for the Three Rivers Conference title again this year

Last year the Lady Falcons had a record of 17-12, 50-32 in sets (games) played.  The team was 17-11 during the regular season and 10-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.

The team finished second in the TRC last year.  Wabasha-Kellogg won the conference last year with an 11-0 record, Caledonia was third, 9-2, and Lewiston-Altura was fourth at 8-3.  Rushford-Peterson, St. Charles and Cotter were all 6-5.  The rest of the conference: Dover-Eyota (4-7), Chatfield (3-8), Plainview-Elgin-Millville (2-9), La Crescent-Hokah (1-10) and Southland (0-11).

“I think we can contend for the conference again this year,” said head coach Travis Malley. “The section is going to be really tough again this year, both sides (sub-sections).”

In the Three Rivers Conference, Malley sees Caledonia and Lewiston-Altura as the teams to beat.  In the section, Mabel-Canton and Caledonia on the East side and Kenyon-Wanamingo and Medford on the West are favorites.

K-W is the top ranked team in the state, Medford is No. 2, Mabel-Canton comes in at No. 6 and Caledonia is No. 8.  How tough is that?

Eight players on this year’s Fillmore Central squad were on the roster last year.  Those players (with the number of sets played last year in parenthesis) are: Hadley Yoder (78), Madison Krage (77), KJ Corson (82), Kandace Sikkink (81), Erin Gossman (11), Krista Jorgenson (17), Hope Sexton (0) and Lauren Mensink (21).
