Fillmore Central golfers split

The Fillmore Central golf teams had success against depleted Wabasha-Kellogg teams, but lost tight matches to Caledonia last week.

The guys shot 213 in a win over Wabasha-Kellogg, which had an incomplete. They lost a close match to Caledonia 208-204. In the win over the northern Falcons, Jake Fishbaugher was a medalist with a score of 45. He also had a 45 in the match with the Warriors, but finished one stroke behind Caledonia’s Dominik Konkel.

The gals got a forfeit win over Wabasha-Kellogg (no players). Madison Scheevel had the low round for the Lady Falcons. She recorded a 41 for her nine holes of golf.

The team lost to Caledonia for the second time this season, 212-207. Jenna Wiebke of Caledonia had a 45 to secure medalist honors.

In spite of the two losses to Caledonia so far this season, Fillmore Central is still ranked ahead of the Lady Warriors in the state rankings. The Falcons (391.80) are ranked fifth in the state and Caledonia (407.50) is sixth. BOLD (346.7) is ranked number one, followed by Lac qui Parle Valley (353.80), Park Christian (356.0) and Murray County Central (391.30).

Individually, Madison Scheevel is the number two Class A ranked player in the state. She has an average 18-hole score of 79.4. Emily Doeden of Park Christian is ranked number one with a score of 79.0. Taylor Bushman is ranked 19th with a score of 96.6. Thirty-three players were on the ranking list this week.

In the boys ranking, Kingsland is at number four and Wyatt Pruter is the number 16 ranked individual.
