Gerald Myhre, 64, of Wilmington Township

Gerald Oren Myhre, age 64 of Wilmington Twp, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 from injuries sustained in a farm accident in Allamakee County, Iowa.

He was born Feb. 16, 1954 in Spring Grove to Oren and Shirley (Vingers) Myhre, and was a lifelong area resident.

He attended Spring Grove High School. He later became a long-distance trucker, and trucked many years with Caledonia Haulers.

On July 14, 1979 he married Naomi Tewes at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia.

He was a member of Wilmington Lutheran Church.

Gerald enjoyed Minnesota sports, especially football and baseball, he was very proud of his children and loved being “Papa Gerald”, and spoiling his grandchildren. 

He enjoyed mowing the lawn, puttering around the farm and feeding the wild birds. He also had an amazing whistle.

Survivors include his wife Naomi of Wilmington Township. His children Lisa Myhre (Joe Kessler) and their children Addison, Henry and Lena of Spring Grove, Josh Myhre of Spring Grove, Angie Myhre (Tom Schultz) of Minneapolis, Mn, and Becky (Bryan) Wilhelmson of Spring Grove.

His siblings Lynnette (Chuck) Pederson of Rushford, MN; Mary (Robert) Staggemeier of New Albin, IA; Sue (Dean) Meyer of New Albin, IA; Linda (Jim) Hacker of Albert Lea, MN; Paul (Rhonda) Myhre of Houston, MN; and Alan Myhre of Winona, MN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Matthew, and his two best friends, Robby Wiemerslage and Jake Jacobson.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at Wilmington Lutheran Church, rural Caledonia.

Burial will be at a later date.

Pastor Neal Solomonson will officiate.

Friends called Friday, Nov. 2, from 4-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
