Girls tops at Stewartville as Reiland sets meet record

The Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland/Southland boys’ and girls’ track teams took part in two meets this week.

The team was in Stewartville on Tuesday, April 16, for the Glen Amundsen Invitational. The girls took second place and the boys finished fourth. On Thursday, the teams were in Triton for the No Frills Meet. The GMLOKS girls finished second again while the boys finished fifth.

The girls’ team took first in five events at the Stewartville meet. Hailey Hindt owned the hurdle events as the sophomore won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.29 seconds. Madison Hindt was right behind in second place (17.37). Hailey Hindt also won the 300-meter hurdles in 49.42.

Eighth-grader Anika Reiland set a new meet record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.32 seconds. Riley Queensland was right behind her in second, finishing in 27.77. Reiland also broke the Kingsland school record formerly held by Lauren Buchholtz.

The relays are a strength for the GMLOKS girls. Lauren Buchholtz, Hailey Hindt, Isabelle Olson and Riley Queensland won the 4X100-meter relay in 51.85 seconds, just 0.4 seconds behind the meet record.

Riley Queensland won the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches.

The girls’ 4X200-meter relay team of Reiland, Kassidy Kirtz, Jordyn Glynn and Olson finished second in 1 minute, 52.56 seconds. Shelby Beck, Maddy Bhend, Sydney Alstat, and Kendyl Queensland finished third in the 4X800-meter relay (11:09.91). Bhend, Ellie Buchholtz, Alstat, and Beck finished fifth in the 4X400-meter relay (4:46.63).

Olson took third in the 100-meter dash in 13.69 seconds, with Kassidy Kirtz (13.84) in fourth and Anna Oehlke (14.28) in sixth.

Kendyl Queensland was fourth (2:39.80) in the 800-meter run. Aubrie Schneider took fourth (6:08.92) in the 1600-meter run. Jordyn Glynn finished third in the triple jump at 31-08.00).

Boys team results: 1. Stewartville; 2. Byron 47; 3. Triton 30.50; 4. GMLOKS 26.50; 5. K-M 14.

The boys finished first in two relay events. Luke Speer, Christian Hjelman, Lucas Howard and James Howard won the 4X200-meter relay in 1 minute, 41 seconds. Blake Ludemann, Jacob Kerrins, James Howard and Lucas Howard also won the 4X400-meter relay at 3:40.33.

The 4X800-meter relay team of Kerrins, Hjelman, Ethan Imm and Brendan Kennedy was second in 9 minutes, 17.52 seconds. The boys’ 4X100-meter relay team of Ludemann, Morgan Jasper, Daniel Dahl and Speer was third in 48.77.

Lucas Howard was third in the 400-meter dash in 54.71 seconds. Kerrins was fourth in 56.51. James Howard was third (24.52) in the 200-meter dash.

Matt Scaglione finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 24.24 seconds. Brendan Kennedy was right behind in fifth (2:24.95).

Ludemann finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.23 seconds.

Over in the field events, Zach Hauser was second in the boys’ high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches. James Howard was fourth (5-06.00). Lucas Howard was third (37-06.50) in the triple jump. Zach Hauser was fifth (18-06.50) in the long jump. Riley Paul took fifth (40-08.) in the shot put.

Triton No Frills Meet

GMLOKS track was off to Triton for the No Frills Meet two days later. The girls finished in second place for the second time last week, with the boys finishing in fifth place.

Girls team results: 1. Rochester Lourdes 198; 2. GMLOKS 160; 3. Medford.

The GMLOLKS girls took first place in five events. Relays continue to be a strength as GMLOKS won the 4X800-meter relay in 11 minutes, 13.07 seconds. The girls also won the 4X100-meter relay in 52.47. Hailey Hindt won the hurdle events, taking the 100-meter hurdles in 16.38. She won the 300-meter event in 49.88. Anika Reiland won the 200-meter dash in 26.97.

GMLOKS finished second in the 4X200-meter relay at 1 minute, 51.25 seconds. They were third in the 4X400-meter relay (4:50.00).

In the sprint events, Lauren Buchholtz was second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.28 seconds. Kassidy Kirtz was fifth (13.85). Kendyl Queensland was fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:08.85). Kendyl Queensland also finished fourth in the 800-meter run (2:55.18) and Madisyn Nackers was fifth (3:00.12).

In the field events, Riley Queensland was second in the high jump at 5-feet even. Shelby Beck was third in the pole vault (7-06.00). Kirtz was second in the long jump (15-05.00) and Lauren Buchholtz took fifth (14-09.75). Callie Kiefer finished third in the discus (72-05). Greta Warmka took second in the shot put (28-05.50) and Madison Reiland was fourth (26-08.50).

Aubrie Schneider was second in the 1600-meter run at 6 minutes, 23.82 seconds.

Boys team results: 1. Triton 130; 2. Rochester Lourdes; 107; 3. Medford 101; 4. Blooming Prairie 73; 5. GMLOKS 66.

Noah Watson captured the top spot in the discus throw at 120 feet, 6 inches.

Also, in the field events, Lucas Howard was second in the triple jump at 37 feet even. Riley Paul was third (39-08.50). Zach Hauser was third in the long jump (17-11.00) and Jacob Kerrins was fifth (17-08.75).

In the sprint events, Trent Hungerholt was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.80 seconds. Luke Speer was fifth in the 100-meter dash (12.48). Lucas Howard finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (55.25) and Kerrins was right behind (56.26). Ethan Imm was fifth (2:21.25) in the 800-meter run, with Brendan Kennedy sixth (2:21.52) and Matt Scaglione seventh (2:22.63).

GMLOKS took third in the 4X400-meter relay in 3 minutes, 47.72 seconds.

In the distance events, Scaglione was fifth in the 1600-meter run in 5 minutes, 23.63 seconds.

In the boys’ field events, Zach Hauser was third in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches. Ethan Gilbert was right behind in fourth (5-04.00).


GMLOKS boys and girls track were scheduled to be off to the Rushford-Peterson Invitational on Tuesday, April 30. It’s back home at the Grand Meadow track on Thursday, May 2, for a meet with the R.A.C.E. Jaguars and Schaeffer Academy, both out of Rochester.
