Head football coach likely returning in 2019

Kingsland will likely be keeping head football coach Brent Stinson in 2019.

During a workshop Monday, Dec. 3, School Board Chairman Doug Plaehn outlined the results of a portion of the Nov. 19 regular board meeting that was closed to the public to address concerns related to Stinson’s evaluation.  Plaehn stated that the board’s findings were that Stinson’s coaching performance is satisfactory and that some conditions were set before Stinson, such as offering a conditioning program throughout the season, communicating with parents and students, holding students accountable for their actions and holding weekly coaching meetings with junior coaching staff.

No action is taken in board workshops as they are set for discussion of issues that come before the board. The next regular board meeting, where actions are taken, is Monday, Dec. 17.

Football coaching staff, activities director John Dols and a couple of concerned parents gathered in the elementary conference room during the November workshop to hear about and share input on Stinson’s decisions and coaching methods. The issue was raised again during the public comments portion of the agenda at the Nov. 19 meeting before the board went into a closed session.
