Jacqueline Park, 76, once of Spring Valley

Jacqueline Park, 76, of Aitkin, died on Friday, July 26, 2019, at her home on Sugar Lake. She fought hard for many pain-filled months, trying to beat lung cancer that spread to her spine.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1943, in Austin to Kenneth and Arlene (Rost) Churchill. She grew up in Spring Valley and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1961. She attended the University of Minnesota and received her bachelor of arts degree in education in 1965.

She was united in marriage to Jack Park on Sept. 12, 1964, in Spring Valley and in 1973 they were blessed with a baby, Travis.

She taught kindergarten in the Roseville School District before a long successful and rewarding teaching career at Mounds Park Academy in St. Paul.

After retirement, she and her husband moved to their lake home in northern Minnesota for the summers and then spent the winter months at their home in Chandler, Ariz.

She enjoyed the outdoors and going to her summer and winter homes to play golf and plant beautiful flowers. She was an avid sports fan and followed many sporting events, especially the Masters and U.S. Open golf tournaments.

She loved her German shorthair pointer dogs, Annie and Gretta; they gave her so much joy.

She is survived by her husband, Jack, of Aitkin; a son, Travis (Lizeth) of Winter Garden, Fla.; and a sister, Susan Churchill of Casa Grande, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Craig Churchill.

A private family celebration of life will be held at her home on Sugar Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or dog and animal shelters.

Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin assisted the family with arrangements.
