Jacqueline Tendick, 86, mother of Spring Valley woman

Jacqueline Joyce Tendick, 86, of Hayfield, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1932, the daughter of John and Julia (Bjorge) Sund in Westby, Wis.

After graduating as valedictorian from Viroqua High School, she attended the Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse.

She worked at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Field Crest Nursing Home in Hayfield and retired her career at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

She was united in marriage to Ted Tendick on July 17, 1954, in Viroqua, Wis.

She was generous with her time and talents as a volunteer to the elementary school and the public library in Hayfield, as a Girl Scout leader and as an active member and elder at First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening and hardanger, as well as fellowship with friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Ted Tendick; five daughters, Joan (Larry) Converse of Spring Valley, Nancy (Ray) Howland of Arlington, Texas, Sara (Arthur) Wall of Morgan Hill, Calif., Lisa (Leon) Arenas of Blaine and Virginia (Kenneth) Garness of Hayfield; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Luetta Hunder of Lady Lake, Fla.; and one brother, John Jr. (Marlene) Sund of Sparta, Wis.

The memorial service for her was held on Friday, Feb. 15, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hayfield with the Rev. Scott Larson and the Rev. Clint Patterson co-officiating. Interment will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.
