Kingsland trap team finishes fourth at state tourney

The Kingsland trap team finished fourth in the team standings at the Minnesota Clay Target League State Tournament in Alexandria. The Knights (472 points) finished just 12 points behind Class 2A team champion Park Rapids (484).

The top 40 teams (regardless of class) all move on to the MSHSL state tournament, and Kingsland was expected to find out this Tuesday, June 18, if the Knights will be one of the teams.

Varsity results

Each shooter in the two-day competition had two rounds of 25 birds each. Nolan Fetterly and Zach Hauser tied for the team lead with 96 birds out of 100 possible. Brad Grabau was next with a 95. Luke Howard finished with a 93, Carleton Corson a 92, and Ashton Boysen added a 91. Nathan Lund and Brett Musel each hit 89 birds, while Emily Miner scored an 88. Hunter Jorgenson scored an 83, Austin Stephans an 80, Joshua Warren hit 79 birds, and Acelee Kohn added a 75.

Nolan Fetterly and Zach Hauser each finished tied for 15th on the High Gun Varsity Male List with identical scores of 96. Brad Grabau finished tied for 26th with a score of 95. Howard finished tied for 51st at 93. Carleton Corson hit 92 birds. Boysen scored a 91, Musel and Lund each added an 89, while Jorgenson scored an 83. Stephens added an 80, Warren scored 79 points, Kohn a 75, and Thomas Warren scored a 74.

Miner was the top Knight on the High Gun Varsity Female List, finishing tied for 10th at 88 points.

Hauser and Fetterly were also tied for 15th on the High Gun Overall (both male and female) List. Grabau tied for 26th, and Howard tied for 52nd. Corson also made the overall list, as did Boysen, Musel, Lund, Miner, Jorgenson, Stephans, Warren, Kohn and Warren.

Several Knights wound up with perfect rounds of 25-straight birds. During the two-day competition, each shooter had two rounds of 25 birds each. Corson had a perfect first round on day one. Fetterly had a perfect first round of 25-straight on day two. Grabau was perfect during his first round on day one. Hauser hit 25-straight birds in round one on day two. Musel hit 25-straight birds in round two during the second day of competition.

Other tournament results

Trent Schwinefus scored a 67 in the Novice Division. Jacob Warren added an 82.

Bradyn Willford shot a 68 in the JV Division.
