Knights open volleyball season with win

Kingsland opened the 2019 volleyball season with a 3-1 win at home against Schaeffer Academy Thursday, Aug. 22.

The Knights, under new coach Amanda Siskow, won 25-20, 25-17, 13-25, 25-12 in the newly remodeled school Thursday evening.

Junior Ellie Buchholtz had 12 kills, eight assists, six digs and three aces. Sophomore Shelby Beck had seven kills and four aces. Senior Kaysie Vreeman added 13 assists and sophomore Audrey Webster added 13 digs.

The Knights were scheduled to go on the road Tuesday to Grand Meadow and then play at home again on Thursday, Aug. 29, against Lyle/Pacelli. They end the week Saturday in an invitational tournament at Mabel-Canton that includes M-C, Grand Meadow, Houston, Rushford-Peterson and Spring Grove. Action starts at 8:30 a.m.

On the first day of school Tuesday, Sept. 3, Kingsland travels to defending conference champion Mabel-Canton.
