Lady Trojans close out regular season with big home win

R-P’s volleyball team finished out their regular season with a convincing win over Southland Tuesday, October 16.  The Lady Trojans kept the visiting Rebels in single digits in two games of a three-game sweep, placing a nice exclamation point on their season before tournament play began. R-P jumped all over Southland in the first match, winning 25-9 and rocking the Rebels back on their heels. Southland recovered somewhat for the second match, managing to score 13 points before falling to R-P. The third game was all Trojans again, as R-P held the Rebels down for another 25-9 victory.

The Lady Trojans were back in the serving groove, with Alyvia Eide and Jaelyn Connaughty each notching three aces on the night. Lakyn Rasmussen added a pair of aces, and Julissa Trejo, Kaylee Ruberg, Kjersta Hinz, Peyton Hoiness each served up an ace. Hinz proved her aggression at the net again, racking up nine kills against the Rebels. R-P spread out their offensive stats against Southland, as Ruberg notched five kills, Kaitlyn Biberdorf zapped the Rebels for four, and Lauren Lawston and Kaleah Davis each had three kills. Connaughty and Hoiness each had a pair of kills, and Cora Bauer, Rasmussen, and Megan Oian recorded a kill each.

Defensively, Hinz led the way at the net, recording three blocks on the night, while Alora Wilkemeyer had a single. The Lady Trojans spread digging stats among the team, with libero Eide claiming 15. Joining her in defensive effort were Lawston with nine digs, Ruberg and Oian with seven, and Trejo coming up with six digs. Rasmussen and Hoiness each had five, Elly Malone had a pair of digs, and Wilkemeyer,  Bieberdorf, Connaughty, and Hinz each had a single dig.
