Lange is top-scoring gymnast

The Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston gymnasts attained their second best team total of the season, 105.725. But host Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa had the best total of any opponent thus far, 134.750.

Warrior eighth grader Braelyn Lange placed third in all-around competition (27.550) among a strong field. The Warriors were without injured sophomore Brianna Johnson, one of their most experienced and successful teammates.

"So we shuffled a few girls around to fill her spots as she is an all-around for varsity," said coach Jackie Johnson.

Seven Warriors competed in all four events, qualifying them for all-around scoring. Lange was third, eighth grader Sabrina Lisota sixth, freshman Ayshia Gay seventh and junior April Bauer eighth.

The top three Warrior scores all came on vault where Lange placed sixth (8.025), Gay seventh (7.950) and Camryn Kruse eighth (7.650).

Lange also led the team on bars (6.350 sixth) and beam (6.700 sixth.) Lisota had the team's best floor exercise mark, placing sixth (7.350).

PI/ZM junior Sawyer Gorman had the best score at all four stations and therefore took top all-around honors as well.

The Warriors will next compete on Jan. 14 at a quadrangular meet in La Crosse, Wis.
