Lewiston-Altura Rushford-Peterson (LARP) not only had the individual champion, but placed third as a team at the Dover-Eyota Invitational Sept 11. LARP Coach Matt Kingsbury called their effort “very positive. The boys have a lot of work to do, but they’re really improving. In addition to Luke O’Hare out-kicking two PEM runners to win, his time was a minute and half faster than last year.”

O’Hare wasn’t the only LARP boy to run a personal best at D-E, according to Kingsbury. “Tyler Rislov ran his best 5K time ever, and finished fourth overall for our team,” he said. “Ricky Buchanan’s time this year was almost four minutes faster than last year. Brendon Honken ran a minute and a half faster, CJ Lee was two minutes faster, Aleric Frick was 40 seconds faster, and Aidan Ellinghuysen was a minute faster. So we just had some really good improvement at this meet.”

O’Hare topped the 81-runner boy’s field with a time of 17:22 for the 5000-meter course. Ellinghuysen was the next LARP boy, finishing 8th (18:18). Ledebuhr and Rislov finished 17th (19:13) and 18th (19:16) respectively, followed by Buchanan (22nd, 19:46) and Frick (24th, 20:01). Andrew Hoiness placed 31st (20:39), followed by Brad Colbenson (43rd, 22:18), Honken (63rd, 25:01), Andrew McNeill (69th, 25:46) and Lee (76th, 27:36).

PEM won the boy’s team title with 49 points, followed by Lake City (60), LARP (66), St. Charles (98), Rochester Area Home School (102), Dover-Eyota (158), GMLOS (190) and Lanesboro Fillmore Central (215).

Freshman Grace Buchanan was the top LARP finisher in the girl’s race, placing 19th in 24:21. Hannah Linder placed 29th in 25:36, and Jenessa Larsen rounded out the LARP squad, placing 42nd in 27:47. Madeline Perry of Rochester Area Home School (RAHS) claimed the individual title, covering the 5000-meter course in 20:19. Lake City won the team trophy with 28 points. RAHS took the runner-up spot (44), Lanesboro Fillmore Central was third (89), PEM was 4th (94) and GMLOS (132) rounded out the team scoring. LARP did not field a complete girls’ team.

The next meet for the LARP cross country teams will Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Pine Island Invitational.
