The Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson boys’ and girls’ golf teams kicked off their season on Monday, April 8, with a dual meet on the road at Caledonia. The LARP varsity boys beat Caledonia, 181-220, while the girls’ team played well but came up short 212-226.

LARP had the boys’ medalist, with Carter Lang shooting the low score of 44. Jenna Wiebke of Caledonia won the girls’ medalist honors by shooting a 49.

Boys Varsity Results: LARP 181 – Caledonia 220

The lowest four LARP individual scores combined to produce the team score. Carter Lang (44), Zach Anderson (45), Jacob Anderson (46), and Mason Kelly (46) shot well during the season’s first meet. Other LARP golfers who took part included Jeremiah Hines (53) and Gavin Smith (75).

Riley Augedahl had the low score for Caledonia, coming in with a 48.

Girls Varsity Results: Caledonia 212 – LARP 226

The LARP girls went toe-to-toe with Caledonia, coming up a mere 14 strokes short in the team competition. After not being able to field a complete Rushford-Peterson girls’ team last season, LARP filled every required roster spot for a team score and had extra players on hand as well.

Anna Hennessy was the low scorer for LARP, shooting a 54. Alexis Reps (55), Lili Reps (56), and Alexa Agin (61) combined to produce the team score. Halle McElmury (73) and Haley Krull (87) also competed for the LARP varsity girls’ team.

The late-season winter storm means all schedules are weather permitting at this point. Both LARP golf teams were scheduled to play Fillmore Central in Harmony on Friday, April 12, but that’s been postponed to May 17. The next scheduled meet is with La Crescent-Hokah on Tuesday, April 16. On April 23 the boys’ team will be at the Lake City Invitational, while the girls have a home dual against Wabasha-Kellogg.
