Learn more about Lanesboro’s historic dam on its 150th birthday

The historic Lanesboro Dam will celebrate its 15oth birthday this year. History Alive! Lanesboro is hosting a party on Sunday, May 20.

History Alive! Lanesboro is sponsoring a 150th birthday party and the public is invited. “It’s the Dam Party” will be held on Sunday, May 20, at 4 p.m. Potluck will begin at 5:30, so bring a dish to share. The party will be held at the Discovery (Methodist) Church at 507 Parkway Ave. South in Lanesboro.

Ted St. Mane will offer a slide show on the Lanesboro dam’s 150 years of history. The dam was built in 1868 by East Coast investors to create a resort lake and power wheat mills. The lake and mills are gone, but the beautiful stone dam still exists and still provides electric power to Lanesboro. It will soon receive physical repairs.

All are invited to come and hear stories about its 150 years and see a model of the dam.

A potluck and cake will follow so bring a dish to pass, please.

This event is also a fundraiser for History Alive Lanesboro! 2018 Pop-up Plays as there are funding problems for this year. There are no admission fees, but donations are much appreciated.
